Well, I guess it's only logical to start a new developers blog with the most obvious starting point for each developer learning something new.

{<1>}Hello World

This is my Hello World of writing my own personal blog.
And as most Hello World examples it will be short.

Who are you?

I am Donovan van der Roest and I work as development team manager at DPG Technology / Tweakers.net in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I'm a professional geek since 2000 and hobbyist geek for ever since I started with my fathers Commodore 64 and Amiga after that. I Still miss the good old Amiga (500/1200) days!

I used to love gaming, but nowadays I find myself programming more often than playing games. I do so mostly for personal interst projects such as my Wine sites Vinifinder and Italian-wine-info as well as Crypto experiments of DIY projects in the garden.

Why a blog?

Mostly to document how-to articles and short tutorials for myself as well as to give back to the community. I have been using other developers their tutorials for many years, it's time to give something back.

Blogs do get outdated don't they?

Yeah they do, so I have removed all outdated posts and hope to start writing new ones at some point in the future.
